Who we are
Scene Magazine is operated by Scene Media LLC ("Scene Media", "we", "us"), a Florida limited liability company. Scene Media LLC is the data controller for personal data described in this notice. Questions or requests: privacy@szenemagazine.com.
What we collect and why
- Account data (email address, login credentials, display name, optional phone number) — to create and secure your account and provide the member dashboard. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Listing data (band, musician, venue and gig details, photos, song lists, contact details you choose to publish) — to publish listings and the public schedule. Legal basis: contract performance and our legitimate interest in running the magazine.
- Text alert data (mobile number, city preference, opt-in and confirmation records) — to send weekend event alerts you asked for and to evidence your consent. Legal basis: consent, which you may withdraw at any time by replying STOP.
- Support messages — to answer your questions. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Technical and usage data (IP address, device and browser information, pages viewed, error logs) — to keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the product. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Subscription records (plan, status, billing period, provider subscription and customer identifiers) — to unlock paid features. Card and payment details are collected and processed by Paddle, not by us.
Who we share data with
- Paddle.com Market Ltd — our Merchant of Record, for the sale of subscriptions, payment processing, subscription management, invoicing, tax compliance and refunds.
- Service providers / subprocessors — hosting and database infrastructure, email delivery, SMS delivery (Twilio), mapping and geocoding, and AI text-parsing used to import pasted gig listings. They act on our instructions only.
- Professional advisers — legal and accounting, where needed.
- Authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.
We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
We keep account, listing and subscription data for as long as your account is active and for up to 24 months afterwards, then delete or anonymise it. Text alert opt-in records are kept for up to 4 years after you unsubscribe to evidence consent. Records we must retain for tax or legal reasons are kept for the period the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask us to access, correct, delete, port or restrict use of your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, withdraw consent, and opt out of marketing messages. Email privacy@szenemagazine.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. If you are in the UK or EEA, you may also complain to your supervisory authority; where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls on our database, role-based administrator access and optional two-factor authentication on member accounts. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences — these are required for the site to work. Our payment provider sets cookies during checkout to complete your purchase securely. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but signed-in features will not work without the essential ones.
Changes
We will update this notice when our practices change and revise the date above. See also our Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.
